Los vendedores no quieren que sus clientes piensen en sus productos como bienes de consumo, ya que son cosas que piensan que pueden comprarle fácilmente a otro y que simplemente deben adquirirse al precio más bajo.

Leyendo esto http://www.neo3w.es/articulos/pdf/articulo8.pdf , te propongo un lindo neologismo: estrategias de "descommodityzación". Es precisamente a lo que apuntan; a sacar a los productos de esa categoría (tomadora de precios).
