Young children have relatively poor recall of listlike information that is not embedded in meaningful contexts. Unlike older children, they do not make effective use of memory strategies, such as rehearsing a list or grouping items into meaningful categories. Even when adults try to teach these strategies for improving memory, younger children do not automatically or accurately apply the strategies in situations requiring memory.
Entiendo que se refieren no sólo a listas de objetos ordenados alfabéticamente o de otra manera y presentados verticalmente, sino también a párrafos que citan diversos elementos separados por comas (por ejemplo: Los felinos son el gato, el león, el tigre, la pantera, el leopardo...) |

Creo que alguna de estas puede andar. "Información presentada en secuencias", eso supone cierto orden artificial [que no es lo que ocurre en el contexto]. Es verdad, la lista supone una disposición vertical. |

No creo que sea el español más ortodoxo, pero al menos por esto pagos se utiliza mucho la construcción "tipo-sustantivo" para transmitir esta idea.
