As Lilian Katz (1995) often reminds educators, the most important decisions are choices of error and one must often choose the "least worst error." Thus, we choose in this publication the error of providing a generalized profile of children at different ages and seek to correct that error by reminding readers of real children who inhabit homes and classrooms - each of whom is like no one else.
