English term or phrase: brain development
Current research in brain development shows that young children learn best when they are doing things that are interesting to them; when they are actively engaged in a project (not just watching or listening), and when they can use all of their senses. Much of their play will require another person to interact with them, because brain development is stimulated by relationships and interactions.
Play helps children develop in all these respects. When children are given plenty of time and opportunities for safe play, supervised by adults who support them but don’t tell them ”how” to play, they flourish in many ways. Play helps children by
· Building their self-confidence by giving them a sense of power and control
· Allowing them to use their entire bodies and burn off their natural energy
· Letting them learn the way young children’s brains are wired to learn -- by using all of their senses (sight, hearing, touch, and smell) -- and through direct, hands-on experience
· Helping them develop at their own pace
· Involving them in activities that are interesting to them
· Helping them learn basic social skills by trying out other roles, imagining being someone else, and negotiating with other children about who does what
· Building their language skills

agree  Joaquim Siles-Borràs: yo tambien lo diria asi, a no ser que el documento original hable despues del desarrollo neuronal. En este ultimo caso se podria hablar de desarrollo neurologico.
