Explanation: If this original text was written about the US system, there are no secondary degrees, as such, but rather high school diplomas. Perhaps the author meant to say "postsecondary degrees," which are university/tertiary degrees.

The Dual Degree Program consists of a primary degree program and a secondary degree program, allowing students to concurrently complete degree requirements for programs in two different Faculties or Schools at Queen’s University. Entry to this program requires a minimum of one successful year of full-time study in an initial program at Queen’s. Students must be in good academic standing to apply for admission.
A program such as Commerce, Engineering or Nursing is the primary program with a secondary program in the Faculty of Arts and Science. Unless additional courses for the secondary program are taken during the academic year or the Spring-Summer Sessions, such a Dual Degree Program will usually take at least five years of study. Other program combinations (for example, Applied Science as primary and Music as secondary) will probably take longer.
Dual Degree Program combinations are not permitted if there is a significant overlap in the two programs.
Students interested in applying are advised to review the Dual Degree sections in the Calendars of the two Faculties/Schools. In addition, each Faculty/School has a Dual Degree advisor who will be able to answer specific program questions.
