"formative assessments" son aquellas técnicas que permiten valorar el nivel de aprendizaje de los estudiantes. estas últimas son más bien informativas, mientras las primeras son fundamentalmente evaluativas.
El estudiante puede seleccionar entre varios temas uno o varios para su evaluación final. interpreto que le recomienda que mantenga seguros aquellos temas que ha seleccionado para sus evaluaciones.
la referencia es sobre "Formative and Summative Assessment" No me he tomado el trabajo de traducir estos términos porque creo que introduciría más ruido que claridad.
