Ando un poco despistada con este párrafo, porque comienzan hablando de expresar emociones, pero la última frase habla de interiorizar las emociones. El cliente me confirmó que es correcto, y me sugiere traducir "affect" como "afecto". Para mí que "afecto" es "affection", y "affect" tiene una connotación algo distinta. Tampoco me acaba de cuadrar en la frase, ¿anda por aquí alguien que entienda de estas lides? Mil gracias :)

Susana: todo el párrafo es muy claro y tiene que ver con el auto control, respeto, desarrollo del juicio crítico ( aunque no lo diga), la toma de desiciones: como ME afectan y afectan a los demás, etc., etc. Esto forma parte de los programas desde el Jardín, especialmente en USA y se trabaja mucho sobre ello. En este caso:
El auto control implica la aptitud para expresar los sentimientos, las necesidades y las opiniones, junto con la capicidad para cumplir órdenes y seguir rutinas. Las maestras alientan a los niños para que resuelvan los problemas por si mismos, a través del lenguaje. Esto permite que los niños internalicen sus sentimientos y concientisen los sentimientos que sus actos despiertan en los otros.
Está clara la importancia del lenguaje y teorías como las de Ausubel, Vigotzky, Brunner, etc., etc.
What they might mean: the affects that cause them to act in a particular way..that would be right, but "affects of actions" is poor writing, confusing and badly expressed. Poor you.
you might act out because of an affect..affect might color their actions..but internalize their feelings and the affects of their actions is nonsense even in American-type discourse of this type..the director is just ignorant. :)
They may mean Affects but then they shouldn't being saying: The affects of their actions...actions don't have affects per se; actions may be related to them...However, actions do have effects..and the director doesn't know his/her English...it is absurd.
