English term or phrase: new math components

Similar to my last question, does "new" refer to "math" or to "components" in this sentence? I know the concept of "new math" exists, but I am not sure this is what is implied here. Many thanks :)

"The xxx Math Program consists of research-based, nonfiction, big books with attractive real-life photographs. Each book teaches children ***new math components*** by engaging them with the characters in the book. Reading these books in addition to the daily interactive math games and activities provided, encourage children to learn real math concepts, problem solving, and vocabulary."

Como dice Ruth, elementos o conceptos me parece más apropiado que "componentes"
