If s/he believes a "nanny" is basically the same as a babysitter, problem solved: you might use "niera" one and "babysitter" for the other (since it's for the US).
According to two (monolingual) dictionaries I've consulted, "nanny" is "a children's nurse." Growing up in the States, I've always thought of a nanny as a live-in babysitter. It would be interesting to know what the author believes a "nanny" is...
Creo que niera es algo ms amplio, abarcativo y permanente que babysitter. THE NANNY,la famosa serie de TV, se conoce en estos lares como LA NIERA. Y es muy comn utilizar babysitter en espaol.Siendo para EEUU,lo ms probable es que utilicen baysitter.
Claro, Gloria, justamente te lo comentaba por eso. A m tampoco me parece adecuada para USA. Es muy "espaola", aunque desconozco si se usa en otros pases. En Argentina, al menos, no se utiliza ese trmino.
Claro, tengo entendido que "la canguro" es la niera en Espaa, no es as?
