What is Flex?
Students are grouped in their Flex classes homogeneously by subject area for the purposes of acceleration in a science/math project-based class and a social studies class based on civics and social responsibility. The social studies curriculum for Flex is a challenging inquiry-based curriculum that requires students to write, read, research, present, and think critically about important issues such as hunger, poverty, leadership, democratic principles, and world and national affairs. The science curriculum is a project-based class in which students are asked to study key scientific concepts investigated in class and to discuss and present problem-solving challenges. ****Our language arts Flex class is based on strategies to teach reading comprehension that will help students in questioning, prediction, visualizing, and summarizing.****
