Cursos electivos requeridos (ELE)


Explanation:
Son un listado de cursos generales de los que se les requiere al estudiante debe seleccionar varios de ellos, no todos. Son ELECTIVOS porque del listado se eligen los que más podrían interesarles, pero son REQUERIDOS como parte del curriculum de la carrera.

Cuando estudié, estos cursos tenian la clave ELE-XXX, sin importar de qué rama general fueran, sean estos baile, redaccion comercial, trabajo social, La inmortalidad del cangrejo (oopss), etc.

Candidates for the Associate of Science Degree in Psychology are required to complete 4 Elective courses (12 semester units). The Elective Courses may be selected from the list below. Course descriptions for the Elective Courses may be found by following this link:

¿¿¿¿FALTA DE LÓGICA?????

¿Acaso son los vocablos "electivo" y "requerido" mutuamente excluyentes o antónimos? ¿No puedo tener la elección de tomar 5 ítems entre 20 si se me requiere que escoja sólo 5?

ELECTIVO:
relacionado con "elegir", tú eliges una o varias cosas de entre muchas. Tienes 20 cursos generales de 4 créditos cada uno, y debes (se te requiere) que selecciones 5 de ellos para sumar 20 créditos, que complementarán tu curriculum, que ya contiene cursos específicos y relacionados a tu carrera. Por tanto, es electivo porque tu eliges,seleccionas las 5 materias que te den la gana de las 20 que se ofrecen, pero es una obligación hacerlo porque es parte del curriculum. Vaya lengua el español. Sólo doy mi parecer de lo que ha sido mi experiencia y lo que la información encontrada en el Web me sugiere.

Además, considero que esa GEL no hay que traducirla.

agree  Marcelo González: sí, igualmente...y salúdame a esa gente "de por ahí" :-) >Not translating it might be an option. That said, the translator's note (to be included) should refer to "general education (courses)" (not electives). Saludos, Fernando!
