English to Spanish translations [PRO]
Education / Pedagogy / Literacy papers (kindergarten)
English term or phrase: emergent
The problem with the word 'emergent' is that it's used alongside the word 'development'. The title of the paper is "Emergent Literacy" (an end-of-year paper about the writing skills of the kids), which I had translated as "Alfabetismo en desarrollo". The problem is that the stages of writing used to asses the development of the kids are: prewriting, early **emergent**, **emergent**, early development. I had used 'En desarrollo' for 'emergent' but since 'early development' is also used, I have to find a new translation for 'emergent'. The word 'emergente' sound too "social", I'm not sure about 'incipiente', 'incipiente temprano'.

The translation is for the US. Thank you.

I don't think using emergente is too social. In my experience, School districts and public schools generally like to use very formal language when writing reports
