• Calculate percentages and solve problems involving discounts, interest earned, and tips. Podría ser "propinas" pero me suena raro, no sé si tips en matemática tenga otro significado.

Hay que mirar el contexto - como se está hablando de intereses devengados y descuentos, lo más probable es que "tip" aquí quiere decir "propina" y no "indicio" o algo por el estilo.

La forma de dar propina en la Argentina se diferencia de la de algunos países, pues a pesar de que el laudo se agrega a la adición del restaurante, es común dejarle al camarero un diez por ciento de la cuenta.
Es igualmente frecuente la práctica de dar propina al "changarín" o "maletero" que lleva el equipaje en los aeropuertos y estaciones de ómnibus y ferrocarriles.
Si su estadía en un hotel ha sido prolongada, también se acostumbra dejar propina al personal de servicio que lo ha atendido.
