Education / Pedagogy / Educación Universitaria Británica
English term or phrase: sandwich course

Explanation:
Lots of definitions, but no obvious term as a straight translation.
The issue is confused by the fact that agencies offering language courses abroad sometimes use the term to describe their work placement (which should imo be "prácticas") thus.
I want to emphasise that a sandwich course is not just the practical period, it's the entire course (not just the filling!).
And I think that José's context is the unviersity one, rather than a foreign language deal.

curso integrado

Explanation:
Abstract. Sandwich courses were so named to describe the alternation of a study period in college and a training period in industry which characterizes them; a common arrangement in six month in college followed by six months in a training situation for the first three years of the course, with a final fourth year in college, but there is a variety of periods and sequences. The term sandwich is in general use in Britain though a few prefer the name 'integrated course', whilst in America the accepted terminology is 'cooperative course'.
