English term or phrase:Widget company (see context)
This sentence is used as a practice problem in a personal finance course: Mr. S. works for a *widget company*. It goes on to talk about how much he earns there, how much other employees earn and just how many widgets they assemble. Since it is meant to be practice problem, I don't like the translation "compañía hipotética" because it doesn't make it seem real and personal, as this book tries to do. Suggestions?
Since this is a book that teaches both finance AND some common finance-related vocabulary in English, we will be explaining that a widget is a term that refers to an imaginary product, but I will include the English term so they will learn it. empresa de widget

The word occurs in the 1924 comedic play, Beggar on Horseback (1924), written by George S. Kaufman and Marc Connelly. The hero, a struggling composer, must choose between creating music that stimulates his soul but earns no money or earning a soul-deadening living in a "widget" factory. "Widget" is never explained, but clearly it is some mechanical product without artistic or spiritual value.
