Explanation:
El término académico en "colegas académicos" resulta ambiguo. Me parece que el sentido de la frase es más acorde con "Colegas del ámbito académico", es decir, investigadores del ámbito universitario.

En cuanto a si se trata de colaboraciones sencillas o facilidad en la colaboración, entiendo que tal y como está expresado en inglés la traducción es "colaboraciones sencillas", pero coincido con que parece que se pretende decir que las cualidades de la persona en cuestión facilitaron la colaboración.
