Explanation: I don't know Spanish well enough to suggest an answer, but I would imagine that when faced with a large amount of material to study, a systematic wader has a plan to work through it in a logical way; a speedy focuser can quickly pinpoint what is relevant and will ignore the rest; and a global dipper will keep looking into different parts of the material at random in the hope of finding what is wanted.
I found one reference which uses all three terms (except for using "focused dipper" instead of "speedy focuser" - probably much the same thing) but doesn't really explain them:
The measurement and implications of ICT [information and communication technologies] capability of students upon entry to one university
Whilst it is now generally accepted that universities and the higher education sector generally should develop the capacity to use information and communication technologies (ICT) more fully for the promotion of learning, there still remains a dearth of information on the actual ICT capability of students entering higher education. This paper reports upon an on-going project on the identification and implications of ICT capability of entry-level students for learning centres and general teaching and learning strategies of the University of Wolverhampton in the United Kingdom. Currently, associated work in distance education suggests a possible typology of student learning styles ('systematic waders, focused dippers and global dippers') that may be helpful in identifying curriculum issues that require addressing to ensure increased effectiveness of the learning process.
