Reference: "borrowing" and "regrouping" in basic math

Reference information:
"borrowing" is the following:

175 - 86 = 89

175
-86

Since the "6" is bigger than the "5" it is necessary to borrow 10 from the "7" which of course if "7". And then I believe "regroup" is remembering or writing down that the 7 is now a "6" after it has been borrowed from, etc.
