English to Spanish translations [PRO]

¿A qué se refiere exactamente el término"service" en las universidades americanas? En el Cv que estoy traduciendo aparece diferenciado como "to the field" (colaboración por ejemplo en la organización de congresos de su área de conocimiento) y "to the university". En mi universidad eso son tareas de gestión, pero no sé si se puede aplciar aquí.
