Es correcto el TENSE she could have had, para decir PODRÍA HABER TENIDO:
At first, people from another institute had been selected, however they were ruled out so as to obtain a more homogeneous sample. A 48 year- woman was not included in the study because it was considered that because of her age she could have had more experience in the field of translation than the rest of the participants.

David Russi: No me explico... en la pregunta "Es correcto el TENSE she could have had, para decir PODRÍA HABER TENIDO:" ¿cuál es el idioma de partida?

-> A veces no se puede traducir literalmente. "Could have had" es "podría haber tenido" pero, en mi opinión, "Se consideró que debido a su edad podría tener más experiencia" es mejor que "podría haber tenido más experiencia".

José Mª SANZ: Es lo correcto, ya que la experiencia continúa teniéndola, independientemente de que se la aceptara o no para la muestra. Creo que inconscientemente se está pensando en "podría haber mostrado" o expresión similar.
