Oxford Dictionary

Meaning number 2 applies in this context.

scholarship / \"skA:l@rSIp / n
1 [c] (grant) beca f; she’s won a scholarship to Oxford ha obtenido una beca para
estudiar en Oxford; athletic scholarship (AmE) beca f deportiva
2 [u] (scholarliness) erudición f

In this particular case, \"beca\" is not applicable, since that is a \"scholarship\" a student wins for studies.

It is not \"enseñanza\" either, because that is \"teaching\".

In the phrase \"the scholarship of academic writing\" and later \"the scholarhip on academic writing\" what we are talking about is the knowledge acquired by study.

See Random House:

r·u·di·tion (erÅy dishÆÃn, erÅÂ-), n.
knowledge acquired by study, research, etc.; learning; scholarship.
[1350–1400; ME < L \"rud#ti$n- (s. of \"rud#ti$) an instruction. See ERUDITE, -ION]
—erÅu·diÆtion·al, adj.
—Syn. See learning.

It is not \"investigación académica\" for students since they are at the level of knowledge acquired by study (\"erudición\") and not academic research (\"investigación acadéica\").
