"School" can mean a primary school, a secondary school, an specialised higher education institution (eg. School of Nursing), an undergraduate university (in the US), a graduate school (in the US) or a quasi-faculty body within a higher education institution (eg. University of X School of Laws). The translation of "Assistant Head" will not be the same in all these cases. Unless we know which it is, we are guessing.

Their position is secondary to the principal with regard to school governance. Assistant principals generally perform specific duties such as handling student discipline, curriculum, student council or student activities whereas the principal has the ultimate responsibility for the school as a whole (including faculty and staff, physical plant, etc.).

More information is needed. "School" can have several different meanings. What sort of institution does it refer to? Is it a section within the institution (eg. School of Modern Languages, School of English) or the institution as a whole?
