If we used \"predecesores\" we would need to clarify that we are not referring to the immediate ones.

que les parece este término?... "antepasados" me parece correcto y en general es esa la traduccion pero también encontré esta definición (Encarta) para forefather: "precursor: a member of an erlier generation from whom traditions, values and ideas have been inherited"....
