Contexto: formularios Individualized Education Program (IEP) del Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD).

En la sección de "Health" de un alumno de educación especial, después de hablar de su postura, hábitos de higiene, peso, estatura, visión, capacidad auditiva:

"Has history of birth complications."

NO están hablando de la madre, por lo que no me parece adecuado poner "historial/antecedentes de complicaciones en el parto". Claro que no habría confusión, puesto que el alumno es un niño y no una niña, y los hombres no dan a luz, ¿no?, pero igual no me suena bien usar "parto".

¿Suena bien "antecedentes de complicaciones al nacer"?

Me rompo demasiado la cabeza dándole vueltas a cosas tan sencillas... :(

Maria Teresa, this is what I would say; even using "durante el parto" would not be confusing if you don't use "antecedentes", which is a more appropriate use when you are talking about the mother, as it is normally used to talk about previous pregnancies. That is why I would prefer to use "historial" as it would be perfectly clear then that you are talking about the individual's health history.

Another posibility is "complicaciones derivadas del parto", wich of course affect both the mother and the child. I can see that you are reluctant to use "parto" since you are talkind about a child as it could be confusing, but maybe saying it this way it would be clearer.

Explanation:
Yo eliminaría la palabra "antecedentes" en castellano... me suena muy artificial para un parto. Creo que para un formulario es más lógico poner simplemente "complicaciones durante el parto (o nacimiento)".
