I'm wondering if the use of hyphens can be translated from English into Spanish or if I will have to say the same thing using more words.

(This has to do with the migration of people from the country to the cities).

I don't think you can hyphenate "a gran escala" but the is only an extra "a" after all. As for hyphenating "campo-ciudad", I think there is no problem in doing so. I checked Google for usage and found over 1000 examples. It appears both hyphenated and unhyphenated, but I would opt for the hyphen.

movimientos migratorios masivos del campo a la ciudad


Explanation:
"Del campo a la ciudad" es una frase hecha que se usa, o se usaba cuando yo estudié geografía. No veo por qué habría que complicarse más la vida, a no ser que alguien conozca otro término. Pero que exista algo como ruriurbano, abrural o adurbano en una sola palabra, me extrañaría.
