  -> I hadn't read the first part of the sentence. In Argentina, K5 is "sala de 5", K4, de 4,K3, de 3. El primario ya se llama 1er grado, 2do, etc. De ahí la confusión.

disagree  teju: Dice "my son began fifth grade" = mi hijo empezó el quinto curso/grado. La oración dice "Fifth grade", eso es el quinto de primaria, tal como lo indica también lo que dice en paréntesis. Es un colegio que va desde kinder hasta quinto. Eso creo yo. Saludos

  -> En España las guarderías acogen a niños de hasta 6 años. A partir de esa edad tienen que ir obligatoriamente al colegio. El último curso, por tanto, corresponde a los niños de 5 años.
