Fine-motor development progresses slowly during the preschool years but can be fostered by providing ample opportunities, appropriate tools, and adult support, as can be seen in settings where children's experiences and the cultural expectations are highly conducive to fine-motor skill development. Nevertheless, more narrow-gauged efforts to merely accelerate fine-motor development by pushing children too early into fine-motor tasks are likely to be unsuccessful or frustrating for children. Too much focus on performance in this area may create feelings of inadequacy and stress. Acknowledging what children can do and supporting their efforts to try new activities result in fewer discouraged young learners.

Pienso que "estrictos" y "forzados" transmiten bien la idea de algo que se les impone a los ninos, en este caso, para tratar de acelerar sus destrezas, como bien dice tu texto, [by pushing children too early into fine-motor tasks] -equivocadamente, pues eso solo les produce frustracion.
