English to Spanish translations [PRO] Education / Pedagogy / Reading program at the local library | | English term or phrase: matey | | Aye aye matey, shiver me timbers! Join Pirate Pete and Sam the parrot puppet for fun songs, lots of laughs and magic! |
| | | amiguito | Explanation: I think I would use this diminutive, more than anything because it's for children and amiguete or colega sounds more slang-ish. It's a question of taste, mind you...Good luck! |

8 mins confidence: peer agreement (net): +4 marinerito
¡Hola, marinerito! etc. etc.
2 a : a deck officer on a merchant ship ranking below the captain b : an assistant to a warrant officer (as in the United States Navy) ranking as a petty officer

Ruth, I get your point of view, it\'s perfectly acceptable. But what I mean by my option is that, if a generic word such as \"compa\" or \"amiguito\" were used, the whole point of the phrase with Pirate Pete and Sam the parrot would be lost; it wouldn\'t have that nuance of referring to the romantic idea of pirates and adventures at sea...
This is a library activity, after all, kids\' imaginations need to be sparked!
