El riser es una tubería de gran diametro llamada comunmente lubricador o tubo ascendente que se utiliza como una extensión del pozo por encima de la BOP.
En el mar, se utilizan para conectar la BOP que está en el fondo hasta el equipo de reacondicionamiento que esta flotando en la superficie.
En las operaciones en tierra los lubricadores son una serie de tubos conectados con el propósito de proporcionar un espacio para que la herramienta pueda ser contenida bajo presión. La longitud total de los lubricadores durante el arme del equipo, depende de la longitud de la sarta de herramientas necesaria para el trabajo; de igual manera el diámetro interno de los lubricadores, depende de la herramienta de mayor diámetro de la sarta.Todos los lubricadores vienen con uniones rápidas para alta presión; estas uniones pueden estar enroscadas al tubo o ser parte integral del cuerpo del lubricador.
Se utiliza por ejemplo en el caso de operaciónes de cañoneos, una vez disparado el cañon en la profundidad deseada, se suben los cañones hasta dejarlos completamente en el interior de los lubricadores (por arriba de la BOP), una vez adentro, se cierra la BOP, y recién entonces se abre el tope de los lubricadores y se sacan los cañones. |

Los "RISERS" son tuberías de uso exclusivo en plataformas marinas. Este tipo de tubería tiene características distintas de las tuberías usadas en tierra. Como su función no implica esfuerzos mayores, son de espesor menor. Es necesario por lo tanto aclarar que son tuberías 'marinas'.
No he encontrado el significado y traducción de 'workover' en Español asociado a la producción de petróleo. Va en Inglés.
