¿Cómo se debería traducir "a partitioning algorithm" en el siguiente contexto?

The optimum order of activities (minimising iteration) can be found by applying a "partitioning" algorithm. In this instance the process has been reversed: the sequence in the pattern of progression has been used to infer the activity dependencies and hence, construct the matrix.

Explanation:
Me parece que se está haciendo referencia a un algoritmo que sirve para repartir unas actividades de manera óptima, y por lo tanto sería correcto hablar de un "algoritmo de reparto".
