Anti Corrosion Test panels
http://www.dstan.mod.uk/data/05/050/23000200.pdf
C.2.1 Steel test panels of dimensions 150 mm x 100 mm as specified in
Def Stan 05-50 (Part 25) with a 5 mm diameter hole positioned centrally
approximately 5 mm from a 100 mm edge.
C.2.2 Hot-plate or oven controlled at (90 ± 1)°C.
C.2.3 Dip-tank of adequate proportions to ensure total immersion of the
test panel in the molten sample.
C.2.4 Rack for suspending panels.
C.2.5 Glass hooks, double-ended.
C.3 Procedure
C.3.1 Prepare three test panels as described in Def Stan 05-50 (Part 25).
C.3.2 Weigh each penal to the nearest 0.1 g.
C.3.3 Control the temperature of the molten sample at (90 ± 1)°C in the
dip-tank.
C.3.4 By means of a glass hook, totally immerse each panel in turn in the
molten sample for not less than 2 minutes to allow sufficient time for the
temperature of the panel to reach that of the sample.
C.3.5 Withdraw the panel at an even rate which will give a film weight of
(90 ± 10) g/m2.
C.3.6 Suspend the panel from the
(23 ± 2)°C.
C.3.7 Re-weigh each panel to the
rack for 24 hours ± 15 minutes at
nearest 0.1g and calculate the film
weight to ensure film weight is in the range (90 ± 10) g/m2.
C.3.8 Visually examine the coating for evidence of sagging, bittiness, or
other imperfections.
C.3.9 Determine the salt spray resistance
salt solution, for the specified duration.
C.4 Calculation
Not applicable.
