Except for alarma, alerta is the strongest word for warning between the possibilities such as aviso, advertencia, and alerta. Watch is the lower of the two levels of warning issued by the NWS, and these terms are translated in confusing and interchanging ways on many sites and publications. The best option os to use vigilancia for watch (which corresponds as a concept), and alerta for warning. In all cases, one should include the English term to make CLEAR what the correspondence is. |
