The risk and opportunity ratings in Table 8 serve two purposes:
• First, risk ratings determine when biodiversity risks created by the project require mitigation. Biodiversity risks are actionable when they pose a likely threat to the viability of a biodiversity value.
In the BAP, all risks rated as High or Critical require mitigation to the point that the mitigated project has a net positive impact to the viability of the biodiversity feature ; and,
• Second, opportunity ratings demonstrate that the mitigation actions for these features have generated a net positive impact on the viability of the biodiversity features compared to the “without project” scenario, as required by IFC PS6. |
