Explanation

Explanation:
A mud room is a room, often with wood floors, etc, for people to put their umbrellas, etc, and to take off their boots, etc, at the entryway of a house, acting as a transition from outside to inside, and to avoid bringing in the mud to the house. It is widely embraced by natural living people here in the U.S.

I have no idea if it exists in Spanish-speaking countries, and I've only seen one here at a Waldorf school.
Good luck
I don't know

I suggest you to take a peek at this

Explanation:
There is an interesting site with explanations and PICTURES. I have seen a mud room, know what it is, but cannot find the spanish word for it.

Go see it yourself! The picture is very good and speaks for itself!

Mud Room
This important room receives all the incoming family traffic. Less household cleaning is done because this spaced floor of pressure treated wood allows the dirt to fall to a sloped concrete floor below that is washed clean periodically. A wide 2x8-window sill is handy at the back door. Another salvaged stain glass window is used to illuminate an interior bathroom. Note the wide rim lock on the door.

more background

Explanation:
I don't think recibidor, vestibulo etc will work, since the mud room is a completely non-ornamental room, not designed as a entryway for guests/people to come into your house, more a room to transition from your muddy garden, for example, to the house.

At least in many cases, it is something coming off the side of the house, by the garden, not an entranceway for greeting guests.

Good luck, and hopefully someone knows more about this.

agree  Laura Hastings-Brownstein: I agree. The "mud room" is usually close to the back entrance or the entrance from the garage never the entrance.
