Explanation:
"Refitted" significa que se ha modificado el modelo original para mejorar algún aspecto, normalmente con una nueva designación (Panzer IV Ausf. F). Por ejemplo, en el caso concreto del Panzer IV, esa mejora se puede referir al "nuevo" cañón de 75mm, o a un motor más potente, etc. Estas modernizaciones son muy importantes en muchos casos, no se trata sólo de pequeñas mejoras.

El término "reacondicionados" también me parece correcto, pero puede confundirse con que han sido reparados o que acaban de recibir mantenimiento. Creo que "modernizados" deja más claro que se trata de una mejora del original que implica cambios importantes en sus prestaciones.
