Jairo, your third example is a horse of a different color. "Nope, you're still not as late as [the rain] is [late]." As it is means as things stand, implying that things can still change for the worse.

Sabina: Pero al traducir la frase me quedaría:
"Estás retardado las cosas son como son" lo que no tiene mucho sentido.
He pensado siempre en algo así como "evidentemente estás retardado"
Qué opinan ustedes?
