Hola,
He encontrado esta expresión en un texto y, al mirar en google, también he visto otros ejemplos de uso. Mi idea es que significa "otras cosas" simplemente, pero me gustaría que me lo aclarasen porque no estoy segura.

Contexto: "Originally, Mat had been sent to do five other things. It was just coincidence he came in contact with Catherine".

Creo que tu interpretación es correcta, en que no son "5" sino un monte de cosas, esto y lo otro, en sentido un tanto ambiguo e indeterminado, como "muchas". Te sugiero algunas opciones que de acuerdo a tu texto podrían quizás marchar.
