English term or phrase: beat the system
In my quest to compile a thorough glossary of idioms with their translations into Spanish, I am basing, although not limiting, the meanings to those given by the Random House Unabridged Dictionary, or other lexicographic sources. Those idiomatic translations used in multiple countries are given preference over those with more limited usage. Please give the equivalent idioms to the following meaning, and specify countries of use, of "beat the system" as defined by the Oxford Dictionary of Idioms as follows:
"succeed in finding a means of getting round rules, regulations, or other means of control." An example could be: "He beat the system and qualified for free luches even though he was from a wealthy family."

Thank you,

Mike :)

Hacía varios años que se había impuesto la libreta de racionamiento para los alimentos y éstos escaseaban como resultado de la disminución de los niveles de producción y la implantación de la agricultura estatal, que mostraba desde entonces su ineficacia. ***Pero mi padre se las agenció por medio de unos campesinos para adquirir unos pavos para ese día***, el último en años en que el estado cubano vendió a la población los productos típicos que por lo general eran importados de España.
