English to Spanish translations [PRO] Law/Patents - Insurance / excess of loss reinsurance | | English term or phrase: signing provisions | En un reaseguro de exceso de pérdida tengo lo siguiente:
Basis of written lines: Percentage of whole.
Basis of signed lines: percentage of whole.
Signing provisions: Reinsurers hereon agree to a disproportionate signed down of written lines if required.
Entiendo que se trata de los porcentajes de responsabilidad que se asignan/reparten/distribuyen.
Mi propuesta de traducción hasta el momento es "disposiciones de asignación/distribución de responsabilidad", pero tal vez ya existe una traducción para este término.
Gracias por sus sugerencias. |

Reference information: This refers to 'signing down' and is more specific than 'underwriting'. In other words, it means 'provisions for signing down'. I don't think there's a concise term for this in Spanish and the English term is often used with an explanation, as in the following example. Although shares are usually reduced proportionately, this is not the case in your context.
. una signing down, es decir, de una reducción proporcional según el número y cuantia del total de las suscripciones obtenidas, cuando entre todas ellas se supera el 100% de la cobertura del riesgo.

En tal caso, se asiste a un proceso conocido como “signing down” .

This may work. The only mention of 'signing down' is on page 37.

For the first link, if you do a Google search with key words such as reaseguro + signing down + reducción proporcional, it may come up.

Asker: Hi Carol. Thank you for your comments. Unfortunately the links don't work (the first one is incomplete and the second one doesn't work -requested URL not found-). I'll try to find them.
Asker: Thanks again. I've found another link where they explain the signing down and signing up processes, so these signing provisions must be referring to both. I'll try to come up with something based on the explanations and keep the English term in brackets for both signing provisions and signing down in the text. Have a good week!
