Creo, me parece, opino.. que en este caso "redundant" y redundante no son equivalentes.
La expresión "make redundant", por ejemplo, no se traduce como (hacer) redundante...

redundancia.(Del lat. redundantĭa).1. f. Sobra o demasiada abundancia de cualquier cosa o en cualquier línea.2. f. Repetición o uso excesivo de una palabra o concepto.3. f.
