No sé qué significa \"em\"...al menos sea la letra \"m\" pero definitivamente, \"dash\" (también conocido como \"hyphen\") = guión alto

disagree  Laura Hastings-Brownstein: No, underscore is not the same as em-dash nor is hyphen. Em-dash is a longer dash than the hyphen but not an underscore. It takes up the space of the letter "M" and that is why it is called "em-dash".

Explanation:
El eurodicatom te lo define en otro contexto como "guión largo". Lo de "em" parece ser que se refiere a que ocupa la longitud de la letra "m" (o sea que es largo). En español (al menos en español de España) es preferible hablar de raya (--, perdona pero ahora no me acuerdo de la combinación de teclas correcta) y guión (-) en lugar de guión largo y corto.
