Tech/Engineering - IT (Information Technology) / Communications Device for Retail
English term or phrase: overhead pages
In a new communications device's press material, we read:
"Enhances customer service by enabling employees to place or receive calls anywhere in the enterprise, in-turn eliminating annoying overhead pages and long response times."

"The NEW DEVICE eliminates annoying overhead pages by offering the ability to quickly find the right person to respond via one-to-one and walkie-talkie style communications."

Explanation:
I believe in this case overhead really literally refers to the speaker devices over the head in the officeplace.

Explanation:
I found this in answers.com:

Overhead

(1) The amount of processing time used by system software, such as the operating system, TP monitor or database manager.

(2) In communications, the additional codes transmitted for control and error checking, which take more time to process.

This may help you to find the actual meaning. I'm thinking in the bunch of data that appears sometimes on a screen to process a task that don't have any meaning to the user.

mensaje de presentación (o de bienvenida)

Explanation:

Suerte!
