Como verás, el sentido de "invitación" es muy diferente (Acción y efecto de invitar o ser invitado, RAE), pues es externo, a diferencia de "intento" (m. Propósito, intención, RAE) o "afán" (Solicitud, empeño, pretensión, deseo, anhelo vehemente. RAE), que surge del mismo sujeto, del que ejecuta la acción.
