Entiendo que en el contexto dado, "discretions" se refiere a "discernimiento: la acción y efecto de discernir" o "distinguir algo de otra cosa, señalando la diferencia que hay entre ellas." Sin embargo, no es para nada frecuente decir "superar los discernimientos existentes".
