English term or phrase: breaching an understanding
somebody in England please help me with this sentence from a UK document: "...with a view to agreeing with the client to carry out an initial transaction or breaching an understanding with the client that it may carry out future transactions".

The "breaching an understanding with the client" part knocked me for a loop within this context. Am I missing the obvious or is there an obscure legelese meaning to it?

Spanish translation:...llegar a un acuerdo...
Explanation:

Hi AJ:
I'd betting it's a TYPO and sahould be "reaching and understanding": Breaching just doesn't make sense in the context.

Saludos!

romper un acuerdo

Explanation:
Por favor presta atención a la estructura paralela entre "agreeing" / "breaching"... Luego "it' se refiere al cliente.

Asker: Sorry. If you read my question, it's not the obvious that has me confused (i.e. breach). Is the correlation between "breaching an understanding with the client" and the "agreeing with the client to...". It looks as if the discussion entry by hjs45 is correct. It may simply be a typo and it should read "reaching" instead.
