Here is the answer I got from utrans about why it cannot be \"condena\". I thought I would share it:

\"condena\" would not work. Juvenile Law is based on
treatment and rehabilitation and not on punishment. The
reference materials I have in Spanish (from Mexico and
Venezuela) speak of \"medidas de tratamiento externo o
interno\", \"medidas de internamiento\" y \"asistencia en
instituciones especializadas\". I would say: \"internamiento
en un campamento militarizado o en una institucion con
regimen militar\".
Other terms that are different for adults and juveniles:
defendant/respondent
guilty-not guilty/ true-not true

disagree  utrans: "sentencia" does NOT mean "sentence"; for example, in Spanish we have "sentencia absolutoria". The term "sentence" is not used in Juvenile Law; instead a "disposition" is made by which a juveile can be placed in a boot camp.

-> Thank-you for the information. I was trying to answer the whole question. Any suggestions? Would "condena" work?
