sobre todo en las jurisdicciones con sociedades off-shore (Delaware, islas del caribe, islas del canal...), el registered agent es una figura legal, el proveedor de servicios (principalmente legales) para los clientes que le contactan desde otros países: inscribe la sociedad, prepara el papeleo, asegura el cumplimiento de obligaciones periódicas, provee domicilio legal-recibe notificaciones, correo, a veces hace de director, etc. y tiene derechos para representar sobre todo ante el Registro de Compañías. Si se trata de ésto, Agente Registrado a secas puede llevar a confusión ya que en los países de habla hispana no existe nada parecido.
