Esta es una difícil, sobre todo si se pretende mantener el símil legal. Espero que valga, creo que tanto falta como irregularidad, aparte de figurar en la terminología legal, también son de uso en otros contextos pero podría ser falta-delito, o incompleta/ incorrecta - errónea.
"si la traducción es demasiado servil para con el texto de origen, adolecerá de/ incurrirá en/ cometerá una irregularidad más que en una falta puesto que no transmitirá el sentido del original (pecará de incompleta más que de errónea - incurrirá en/supondrá un error por incompleta más que por incorrecta)
