English to Spanish translations [Non-PRO] Art/Literary - Linguistics
English term or phrase:Jeez Louise!
I understand the term, but I am struggling to find an equivalent that won't look too weird in Spanish.
Context: someone is telling a story but it's taking too long, so someone else interjects saying "Jezz Louise! can you get to it already?"

Había pensado algo como "¡Por Dios, ve al grano!, porque como bien dices en España no nos pensamos mucho lo del usar el nombre de Dios en vano...
"jeez" es un eufemismo de "Jesus", pues los anglo-sajones son más reacios a usar en vano el nombre de Dios que los españoles. (Los demás hispanos no lo sé, pero en España somos muy procaces con la lengua.)
En cualquier caso, la traducción dependen enteramente del público lector final: país, edad, así como del nivel de formalidad.
"Louise" se usa con "jeez" simplemente porque rima, de modo que en la traducción se puede prescindir de esto. La que no termina de contar el cuento no se llama Louise, desde luego.
Se me ocurre muchas exclamaciones: desde aceptables para mi abuela, hasta inaceptables para mí. Por eso digo que todo depende del destinatario final.

Explanation: The expression "jeez" evolved as a way of avoiding true blasphemy of saying "Jesus," and "jeez louise" is a rhyming slang extension of it (there's no actual "Louise" involved. I think "hijole" might be a reasonable equivalent in this context.
