Conste, antes de continuar, y a fin de evitar malos entendidos, que somos conscientes de la dura situación de homogeneización dialectal que sufrió Canarias durante los años que duró la dictadura. Claro que sí, ¿cómo iba a ser de otra manera, si la norma de Tomás Navarro, paladín del buen español, se convirtió en el más claro ejemplo de discriminación lingüística que probablemente se haya sufrido en los últimos tiempos? No viene esta situación más que a reforzar la tesis durante todo este ensayo mantenida: el habla canaria como víctima de una marginación histórica.
